Meet our Team

Monica Reid
Monica is a finance professional with over 18 years’ experience consulting on water, energy and environmental projects. Monica directs and coordinates the activities of the Kestrel team and works directly with clients and with the Climate Bonds Initiative.

Walt Robinson, MBA
Walt is experienced in public and private finance. As a commercial banker and investment banker, Walt has been affiliated with General Motors’ New York Treasury, Toronto-Dominion Securities, Credit Lyonnais, and Regions Morgan Keegan. Walt’s role on the Kestrel team is to review financial documents for conformance with the Climate Bonds Standard and the Green Bond Principles. He also participates in risk assessments, management of the virtual data room, and post-issuance reporting.

Brad Anderson, CPA
Brad is a CPA and senior manager at Talbot, Korvola and Warwick, LLP. His role on the Kestrel team is to oversee our assurance practices for conformance with the ISAE 3000 standard that is required by the Climate Bonds Initiative. He participates in risk assessments, pre-issuance verification plans, testing and fieldwork, and reporting.

Evan Smith, MS
Evan verifies projects for conformance with the Climate Bonds Standards and the Green Bond Principles. His educational background and professional experience as a hydrogeologist and water resources engineer allow him to evaluate water quality and environmental impacts, complex infrastructure projects and best practices in water resources management. His scientific training and background allow him to assess climate impacts of many types of projects.

Summer Gorder
As a recognized leader in the Green Building industry, Summer has helped dozens of project owners to exceed their LEED certification goals and has taught hundreds of workshops to help people become LEED Accredited professionals. She has developed proprietary Green Building Integrative Management (GBIM) software and Lean LEED tools. On the Kestrel team, Summer is responsible for technical verification of Low Carbon Buildings and energy efficiency projects. Summer also collaborates with the team to assess energy impacts of other types of projects, and participates in post-issuance impact reporting.

Dara Easley, MS
Dara is a Project Manager par excellence. After graduating in 2005 with her Master’s in Physics, Dara gained experience as an analyst in the energy sector and as a technical consultant for an intellectual property law firm. Her skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and attention to detail translate well to managing technical projects and distilling complex content. She helps us execute on verification strategies including technical writing and editing, data management and analysis.

Marina Magaña
Marina’s role on the Kestrel team is to assist with verification engagements, including testing procedures and reporting. She excels at keeping complex submittals organized and manages our virtual data room. Marina graduated with departmental honors from UCLA in 2014 and is fluent in Spanish.

John Katovich, JD
John has over 30 years of experience as a securities lawyer and entrepreneur and was General Counsel at the Pacific Stock Exchange and Boston Stock Exchange and Chief Regulator Officer for the NASDAQ subsidiary regulating options. He has represented and dealt with major securities regulators and governmental entities, including the SEC, FINRA, state regulators, Congressional banking and finance subcommittees, the CFTC, and emerging/developing country governments as an advisor and consultant in capital market development. John’s role on the Kestrel team is to advise on any potential conflicts or problems encountered during the verification process.

Shannon Huberd
Shannon supports the Kestrel team by managing our office and keeping track of accounts payable and receivable. She is responsible for payroll and benefits administration, business insurance and licenses, and other day-to-day business operations.

Miglena Stancheva
Miglena’s role on the Kestrel team is to optimize our processes, procedures and workflows. She helps us utilize project management software for business development, verification engagements and client relationships. She assists with marketing and business development.
Kestrel coming on board is a welcome addition to our US based Verifiers. There is enormous growth potential for certified green bonds, particularly in the municipal sector and to fund system upgrades and new climate resilient infrastructure. How We Work
Kestrel verifies Climate Bonds to the Climate Bonds Standard and Green Bonds to the Green Bond Principles. We provide second-party opinions and green bond frameworks.
Our professional judgment and direct experience bring credibility and value to your bond issuance. Our automated internal procedures protect your data, provide assurance and allow us to complete engagements efficiently. After an initial consultation, we will provide a letter of engagement which establishes how we will verify your bond and the schedule we will follow. You will know exactly what to expect.
